Two grape varieties are responsible for the range of Cte
d'Or wines:
Pinot Noir
for the reds; Chardonnay
for the whites
Cte d'Or
is divided into three parts:
Cte de Nuits: known for its rich, deep
red wines (Chambertin, Musigny,
los-de-Vougeot or Romane-Conti)
Cte de Beaune: produces great red wines (Volnay,
Pommard, Beaune,Aloxe-Corton);
& the greatest white wines of Burgundy
(Montrachet, Meursault & Corton-Charlemagne)
Hautes Ctes: makes simpler reds & white
wines. |

The four varieties grown here
are:
Pinot Noir, Gamay, Chardonnay & Aligot
There are five
appellations in Cte Chalonnaise:
Bourgogne Aligot-Bouzeron, Rully,
Mercurey, Givry & Montagny. |

Mconnais:
The grape varities of Mconnais
are:
Gamay
for red, ros & Macon, though when blended with Pinot
Noir,
it is given the appellation Bourgogne Passe-tout-grains
Chardonnay
grapes make the white wines of the region, including
Saint-Vran, Mcon-Villages, & Pouilly-Fuiss.
