1997 COLDSTREAM HILLS Reserve Chardonnay  Yarra Valley  Things begin with a delightful nose of rich tropical fruit and honey, along with plenty of toasted oak. Very impressive flavors of honey, vanilla and butterscotch are revealed in succession, with lots of citrus layered in between to keep things clean. All this fans out onto a satisfying lasting finish, exhibiting moderate weight and richness, and good depth of flavor. And the color is a knockout golden, burnished brass. Elegant, attractive effort from this Aussie producer.  About $20.         07/10/01       Tom
