1997 GLEN CARLOU Chardonnay, Paarl
South
African white shows light greenish gold hues with a light to medium
body. It has a prominent toasty oak nose, with suggestions of ripe
peaches. Its flavors start with sweet citrus, then change
over to a rather unpleasant tart, pithy orange peel taste in the finish.
Wine Spectator Magazine rates it 90. But, with the tasting panel in top
form, we don't get it. Perhaps another tasting is in order.
