1996 ST. FRANCIS Cabernet
Sauvignon, Reserve Sonoma Valley
A
long, delicious chocolate finish, accented by notes of mint and
eucalyptus, is the feature here. The bouquet is closed, with smoky dark
fruit elements teasing the senses. This wine slowly reveals itself with
the expected dark, ripe fruit component, not much more. At mid palate
the fruit flavors begin to gain richness, eventually yielding to the
herbal chocolate finish that has impressive length. And with the depth
of flavor, the assertive tannins and the 14.4% alcohol are held in check
adequately.
All the elements of an ager.
