1997 ST. FRANCIS "Old Vines" Zinfandel, Sonoma County  Big, muscular Zin sports jammy raspberry aromas, with nuances of smoke, menthol, leather and fresh coconut, all framed by a large dose of new  oak. Rich and soft in the mouth, it picks up vanilla at mid-palate and butterscotch on the lingering finish.  It is full bodied and smooth, and with its monstrous 16.1% alcohol, it drinks like your favorite candy soaked in framboise. Just try to look past the massive amount of wood.  About $18         03/25/00          Tom
