1999 SILVER OAK Cabernet Sauvignon

Silver Oak Cellars produces legendary Cabernet Sauvignon wines which are
sought after by a legion of devotees of these cult classics.
Historically Silver Oak sells out quickly after each release, the
Alexander Valley in the summer and the Napa in the winter. Recently the
Silver Oak Cabs have not shown well against other Cabernets at similar price
points. They sold out anyway because of the mystique known as
Silver Oak. But eventually, without improvement in quality, that
could come to an end. Mindful of this, the folks at Silver Oak aim to
make improvements, and this '99 Alexander Valley vintage appears
to show some results.The bouquet is magnificent, offering up notes
of cedar, sandalwood and sweet violets, encased in scents of ripe black
berries, with suggestions of scorched earth and leather. Everything
translates perfectly onto the palate, delivered in a plush, full body with
soft tannins. Then, the ripe fruit and violtets take over
and ride onto a very lasting finish.
