Rodney Strong
1999 Rodney Strong Pinot
Noir,
Russian River Valley
North Sonoma
This
is an interesting Pinot Noir. The scent is quite fine and intense, flowery
and
fruity; it smells of cyclamin and red cherry, and still retains a hint of
the vinous
smell which is typical of the first stage of vinification. In the mouth it
is warm and tasty, and shows medium acidity and low tannins. The color is
a nice shade of ruby with purple reflections. The balance is not perfect
because the acidity is still a bit too high, and the bouquet is not fully
developed yet. It can improve a lot after aging for one or two years. It
is a nice value Pinot.
