2001 MARTINELLI Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley  Martinelli Vineyard One must start with the word exquisite when describing this offering from the hands of the Queen-Goddess  of California wine, Helen Turley. As consulting wine makers and vineyard managers, Turley and her husband, John Wetlaufer, produce block-buster wines under the Marcassin and Martinelli labels.This single- vineyard Sauvi spent some time in wood, softening the palate and bringing smokiness to the nose. The bouquet is of peach blossoms and cedar. But the main feature that begins with the attack and carries onto a thirty second plus finish is gobs and gobs of ripe, white peach flavors.
