Terrific aromatics of figs, melon and honeyed tropical fruit are embellished with smoky, spicy edges. Things echo nicely on the palate with lush richness and depth, while creamy oak rolls out on the finish with a touch of spritz and spice to play against all the richness. A superb rendition of California Chardonnay at its best. About $22.        06/09/01    Tom
