1997 BENZIGER Cabernet

It
starts out with promising aromatics of sweet oak and very ripe dark plums
and berries. First blush in the mouth, the fruit comes across as
moderately ripe, but with an unpleasant amount of acidity. All is carried
in a medium body and can hardly be thought of as soft and silky. With the
regular bottling performing so well, this is certainly a disappointment.
If fact, we think the regular bottling drinks better than the reserve. Go
figure.
