1999 GAINEY Merlot,
Santa Ynez Valley
Pleasing
aromas of sweet candied cherries dominate the nose.
Also, some smoky, waxy notes provide some added intrigue. Lots of ripe fruit flavors show up on the palate with decent
concentration but not a lot of complexity. Its
forgiving tannins and medium body make for an overall above average effort.
