2000 FIRESTONE Sauvignon Blanc,
Santa Barbara County
Looking
for a different take on Sauvignon Blanc? Here it is. It starts out with a
classic varietal bouquet of stone fruit, with grass and fresh mown hay.
Ripe peach and nectarine flavors emerge on the palate, presented in a
fairly soft body. But the flavors are off dry, very reminiscent of Chenin
Blanc. Perhaps its the 14.5% alcohol, perhaps not. While the aromas a
very true to the grape, on the palate it is way different but tasty and
likeable, this maverick of a Sauvi. About $9. 08/19/01
