1995 ST. CLEMENT
Cabernet Sauvignon,

Aromas
of earth and butter are the first impression, while black currant and
cedar shoulder their way forward, trying to get attention. Flavors of
dark fruit, wild berries and cherries grace the palate nicely and
intensify in the finish. We detected a slight oaky residual
bitterness after all was said and done, but our biggest disappointment
was how closed the wine still is, and how it begs for more body and
richness. Wine Spectator Magazine gives it a 90, but cautions its
best after 1999. Maybe so. We are a bit skeptical.
