1997 NEYERS Merlot,
Napa Valley
Special
occasion red from a celebrated producer of world class Chards. Intense
flavors of ripe berries and black cherries yield to chocolate and earth,
with tones of herbal eucalyptus in a lovely lingering finish. The
bouquet is restrained and the tannins are firm, indicating that the wine
is somewhat closed. While being very enjoyable now, the abundant fruit
promises significant improvement from a year or two of cellaring,
fleshing out its considerable complexity. 2 glasses now, certainly 3 in
the future.
