1997 LIPARITA Cabernet
Sauvignon, Napa Valley
From
the celebrated '97 vintage comes this Cab by way of a noteworthy Napa
producer. It carries a closed, brooding bouquet of ripe dark berries,
with notes of chocolate and smoky oak. It's a bulked up mouthful of a
wine, with intense fruit and chewy tannins that turn a bit dry on the
finish. With enough fruit to weather the tannins, it's not quite ready
to go, but patience should be rewarded as things get resolved in the
next few years.
