1997 ELYESE Zinfandel, Morisoli Vineyard, Napa Valley  Earthy, funky aromas mask the faint plummy fruit notes in the bouquet. But the attack is pure sweet fruit. Ripe, dark berries and candied cherries result in a rich mouthful of a Zin, with soft tannins and a spicy fruitiness that carry well onto a lingering finish. It carries an opaque deep purple color and a medium body. And, while fruit is the name of the game, what it lacks in complexity, it more than makes up for with its forward fruitiness and depth of flavor.   Around $20.                 02/20/00              Tom
