Cosentino Winery

1998 M. COSENTINO Il Chiaretto, California Table Wine  A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Mouvedre. Pleasant touches of earth and suede accent aromas of dark berry fruit. Ripe strawberry and raspberry flavors come through on the palate, carried in a light body oh so typical of Cabernet Franc. Far from being tart, it has a pleasant acidity that seems to work well against the attractive vanilla notes that show up on the finish. The overall impression is delightful and the acidity makes it guaranteed food friendly. This wine that literally bespeaks of Italian terrior raises the question, "How can a wine made in California taste so Italian?"     About $14.      08/28/01
