Chateau Woltner

1999 CHATEAU WOLTNER Red Wine Napa Valley Howell Mountain  Here's a Bordeaux-style blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc. It comes from emerging star-winemaker Karen Culler who crafted the first vintage of the very successful 1999 Ladera Cabernet Sauvignon Lone Canyon (Wine Spectator 92 points, $60). Ripe, black fruit flavors rule on a plush, full palate, offering plenty of body, richness and texture. Wishing for a bit more complexity and length, to its credit it is very soft and velvety and provides plenty of pleasure at its price-point.
