1999 BERNARDUS Chardonnay,
Monterey County
The
bouquet sports lemon custard aromas, with touches of minerals like slate
and talc. Nice flavors of ripe apple and honeyed pineapple tail off to
butterscotch and caramel on the finish. Not a lot of acidity going on
here, but a glimmer of spiciness works well against the candied richness
of the fruit. Not a big, massive Chard, and a slightly different take on
the genre, but theres enough here to keep things interesting.
