2001
HENRY'S DRIVE Shiraz Reserve

Here's another masterpiece from the talented wine making team of Aussies Sparky and Sarah Marquis. Deep blue/purple colors lead to an absolutely divine bouquet of cassis/black cherry liqueur with suggestions of new saddle leather, sweet violets, burnished oak, mint and sage. Thick, plump and plush on the palate, with soft, velvety sweet tannins, flavors of blackberry and black cherry are delivered in a body gushing with glycerin and a forever finish that eventually surrenders to sweet oak. With mint hitting hard at mid-palate, this wine delivers pure, unadulterated hedonistic pleasure. Robert Parker, Jr. rated the 2000 rendition 95 points. No doubt he will like the 2001, too since
this vintage is even stronger.
About $40.
