1998 HIGHFIELD Merlot,
Marlborough
Here's
a tidy little rendition of Merlot at an affordable price. It comes from a
Kiwi producer of many other varietals like Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay,
to name a few. While not renowned for this varietal, what we have here is
an offering loaded with aromas and flavors of ripe dark berries and
cherries, replete with a saucy little finish that shows a tease of
chocolate. With a medium body to boot, here's a Merlot that merits some
attention.
