Castellani

1996 CASTELLANI Valpolicella Ripasso "San Michele" It starts out with pronounced aromas of ripe black cherries. On the palate the fruit is joined by notes of smoky bacon, carrying onto a decent finish where the cherries turn a tad tart. Better if the fruit could hold its ripeness all the way through, and it had a bit more body, but there's enough going on to try it again.  About $14.                           10/21/00         Tom
