1998 PERE ET FILS Crozes-Hermitage La Matiniere
Modest
dark fruit aromas are ensconced in major elements of earth and herbal
sage. The palate is, at first, overwhelmed by all the sage. But, when the
herbs subside, the fruit is left clinging to some very chewy tannins. A
far cry from familiar California fruit bombs, this Syrah might find a
happy home on the dinner table of a northern Rhone devotee.
