L'ABBE DE BREYAC

1997 L'ABBE DE BREYAC Ctes du Marmandais  Obscure French red promises with pronounced aromas of cinnamon, clove, dark berries, cherries and minerals.  Impressive and big.  But, alas,   the flavors don't deliver.  Rather simple, shallow tastes of earthy, tart berries, with slightly bitter tannins, are too quickly discovered in this light bodied wine.                                                12/21/98                   Tom
