1999 CRYSTAL VALLEY CELLARS Pinot Noir, California The bouquet offers up aromas of earthy ripe strawberries with a smoky edge. A surprising amount of body for a Pinot layers the palate with big fruit flavors, along with vanilla and butterscotch, which fan out onto the lasting finish. While it doesnt come off hot, you know you have a mouthful of alcohol (14.4%, to be exact). Made under the watchful eye of M. Cosentino, the first impression isimpressive.    About $17.       06/11/01
