1999 EDNA VALLEY Syrah,
Central Coast Paragon

Everything
starts out with promising impressive saturated dark ruby colors. Although
modest, the bouquet is loaded with interest, offering up intriguing aromas
of dark ripe berries wrapped in nuances of smoky hickory, a spice box
mixture of cardamom, clove and cinnamon, along with coffee and cola, all
of which are unveiled progressively. Sweet oak joins in on the palate,
wrapped in velvety tannins. The cuvee includes 8% Zinfandel and 2%
Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend that obviously works because it's a rich, big,
full bodied delicious mouthful.
