2001 DON MIGUEL GASCON Malbec, Mendoza Argentina is known for its prolific production of Malbec wines. Most are earthy and reflect a great deal of rusticity. This one doesnt fit the mold. Rather, it offers up lots of ripe fruit aromas and flavors laced with plenty of sweet oak. Its forward fruit comes packaged with light tannins and significant palate weight. With an attractive package and a value price point, this South American red could be a winner.  About $10.                      04/30/02             Tom
